Welcome to the official site of thereminist and electronic
music recording artist Rick Reid.
Rick has worked in the media and entertaiment
industries since the late 1980s as a TV writer/producer and voice actor. Electronic music has been one of Rick's hobbies throughout much of his life. It has occasionally spilled over into
his professional work. His original music has been featured on a few TV commercials and TV promos, including a comical jingle
that aired nationally on TNN, The Nashville Network. In October of 2009, Rick
purchased a Moog Etherwave theremin, an Alesis AirSynth and an Alesis AirFX to play sci-fi sound effects during a live, community
theater production of "The Rocky Horror Show." Each night during intermission, he performed improvisational
electronic music soundscapes. This experience solidified Rick's interest and new passion in electronic instruments
with uncoventional, non-keyboard user controls.
In May 2010, Rick collaborated with drummer Gunnar Hauge to record their
first full-length music album, "Boulder Suite - Improvisations For Theremin, Drums & Devices," a longform improvisational
piece recorded during the very first jam session between the two musicians. There was no intention at the outset to
record an album, nor had the two artists discussed any specific ideas about what they would play. It was just one
of those happy accidents that occur when creative people connect. Rick's instrumentation on the album included the Moog
Etherwave theremin, the Alesis AirSynth and AirFX, and three Korg electronic instruments: the MicroKORG, the Kaossilator Pro,
and the Kaoss Pad KP3.
For a limited time, you can listen to and purchase
three single edits from "Boulder Suite" at SongVault.FM. The full-length album is available for purchase or streaming at most major
on-line music retailers, including:

iTunes Amazon eMusic Napster
Rick is exploring possible collaborations with Denver-area rock bands, with the intention
of playing his theremin and electronic devices on the concert stage. Rick is also working on a solo recording project
of short-form electronic ditties, tentatively titled "Moon Cheese," with a target release date of Autumn 2010.
